Cheerleaders plan to present checks Friday to 11 families that lost homes or were displaced by the wildfire near Meers last month.

Nita Wallace, varsity cheer coach at Cache, said Billingsley Ford matched $800 raised by the cheerleaders at a tailgate party Sept. 9, and with a few other private donations the group will distribute about $1,900 total.

The money will be presented during the half-time of Friday‚Äôs home football game against OKC McGuinness, Wallace said, and will be distributed evenly among the 11 families.

Three homes were burned and several more damaged after wildfire rolled through Wichita Mountain Estates in the northeastern part of the school district in September.
