Western Days called off this year

Cache Chamber of Commerce has announced it will not host a Western Days celebration this year.
Chamber officials said the decision was made after the organization was unable to raise funds from firework stand sales this year due to the drought.

Chamber President Scott Brown said the fireworks stand usually brought in about $2-3,000 in funds, the organizations largest fundraiser, and that the chamber also has had difficulty recruiting volunteers.

“We hope we can put it on next year — hopefully we’ll raise some more funds and get a little more participation out of the community,” Brown said.

A long-standing annual tradition in Cache, the Western Days celebration was reinvigorated by the chamber in 2009 after missing several years.
